With the ideological shift from liberalization of women to empowerment of women, the College converted itself from the male domain to co-educational pattern during 1997 and this serves as a basis of establishing gender equality. With the dwindling Government support to start new courses and in order to cater to the needs of the changing demand, the College explored the selffinancing avenues and kick-started with a couple of need-based programmes during the year 1994. The college abuts NH-47 connecting Salem with Kanyakumari and caters to the needs of the educationally backward Erode District of Tamil Nadu. Presently it offers 54 programmes ranging from certificate to doctoral degree. Sri Vasavi College – a flagship institution of EVS, was started in the year 1967 with 133 students and 16 teachers as a Government-aided, pre-university college, has grown leaps and bounds in the past four and a half decades. It was registered under Registrar of Societies Act of 1860.

PREFACE The Erode Vidya Sangam (EVS) – the educational agency which runs the College – was started in the year 1964 by a group of munificent Arya Vysya community people.
